Siblings Visit!

We’ve just finished up a few wonderful days with Anne’s siblings, Kay and Tom. While Kay and Tom were with us, we tried to show them a taste of the cruising life. Newport and Narragansett Bay are very cruiser-friendly places, making it easy to give them an introduction.

We had a few nights on a mooring ball in Newport and Bristol. On one of those nights in Bristol, we enjoyed a good view of the Wednesday night regatta. While in Newport, we made good use of the Newport Maritime Center. The Maritime Center offers a dinghy dock, laundry facilities, showers, and a lounge with wifi. These amenities are so welcome!

We were also able to explore the Newport historic mansions from the vantage point of the Cliff Walk, a 4 mile path along the coast, eat some more delicious lobster rolls, and watch the whole Newport scene with the hustle and bustle of sailboats, tour boats, ferries, and mega yachts.

To round out the experience, we made sure to get some nights on anchor out in Narragansett Bay. One day, we found a good anchorage just off the John H. Chafee Nature Preserve. Anne and Tom enjoyed using the SUP and we all enjoyed a group stroll in the woods and on the beach.

Most of all, it was so great to spend time with family, and for them to get firsthand knowledge of our sailing life. Can’t wait til the next time we see each of them!
