Jim’s parents, Bob and Carol, flew into Charleston to join us on another leg of the journey. We spent a day exploring Charleston and enjoying fun meals together.
Then we headed further north. The first night, we found a great anchorage with beautiful views, good holding, and calm waters. The second night we had a marina night in Georgetown, SC. The town is quaint with many restaurants, museums and shops to explore. The most informative we found reviewed the history and culture of the Gullah peoples in the area, descendants of free Black immigrants and freed slaves.
While in Georgetown, we also celebrated our wedding anniversary!
We continued north, enjoying the natural beauty of the Waccamaw River and the journey past some amazing houses near Myrtle Beach to finally arrive in Southport, NC. We were sorry to see Bob and Carol leave, but so happy to have had the opportunity to travel with them.
