We have left Norfolk, VA and are heading toward Block Island, RI. The weather is looking good, but perhaps not quite as much wind as we would like for sailing. Still, it’s nice to go to sea and make for another port. We think we’ll get there mid-morning on Wednesday, September 2.
We have a couple of new crew aboard: a high school friend of Anne’s and her husband. We’ve enjoyed socializing with them, and they expressed interest in doing something like this. It’s fun to see people experience this kind of boat life for the first time, and extra hands are helpful.

Assuming all goes to plan, our course is pretty simple. Leave the Chesapeake by going through (or over?) the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, turn left and aim for Block Island.
